Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 1-2 of 7; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

THIS weekend's Socialism' conference, launching £10,000. The purpose of this is to reinstate the weekly schedule for our paper. If successful, we hope to resume weekly publication from the New Year. Such a large sum will only be generated, however, if intensive ‹ effort is made between now and the end of next January.

Socialist Action is unique. It is a paper that understands the practical necessity for an anti-imperialist stance in British polities. Only in combination with the assaults of the peoples oppressed by British imperialism will the class be able to end the power of British capitalism. Because the British ruling class derive their power not just from the exploitation of British workers but from their world-wide operations.

This is why we lay such stress on solidarity with the fight against apartheid in South Africa and against British domination of Ireland. This is also why we stand full square with the demands of Argentina for the return of the Malvinas. This is why we consider the fight to defend the Sandinista government in Nicaragua against the imperialistinspired attacks on it should be at the centre of apor ovelicu colcc, Socialist Action supports Labour Left Liaison and Campaign Group News. We gave our full support to the miners strike, and we welcome the campaigns of Black Section, the Committee, Labour Campaign for Lesbian and Gay Rights, Labour CND, and the Anti Apartheid Movement.

We appeal to all readers to contribute to our fund drive weekly publication.
